This is a great beach with the Hooker Sea lions a plus. When we were there there was a well behaved tour group but also some people in a car getting far too close.

It's an 8km drive down to the Bay and quite narrow in places but still an OK drive. At the end you can park quite near the beach and walk along it. We only saw one seal the 2 times we visited so were a bit disappointed in that but that's the way it goes. It's a lovely sandy beach
When we headed here we were the only people on the beach for miles! It was an amazing view even though we never glimpsed the NZ seals we desperately hoped for! Please do not go if you have no understanding of tides or cannot swim. The tide approaches rapidly and could be very dangerous for foreigners.
Unfortunately we had a wet cold day when we visited. The road is narrow and unsealed, but ok for the careful driver. In summer it would be great for beach and coast walks.
