The community has done an excellent job with the Bear River Valley. Beautiful scenery with easy to follow trails. You'll see lots of fishermen at the bridge, and likely will see Kayakers too. The Bear River Valley offers beautiful scenery at no cost. The paths are easy to follow. It's proximity to Little Traverse Bay made it even more enjoyable.
The waters edge is beautiful with the clearest water running on the rocks. Nice trails , grassy areas with picnic tables . Beautiful spot for bird watching , saw people looking for the Petroskey stones . The concrete pier has a small light house and place for beautiful sunsets .
Such a adventure we loved it we took lots of pictures and got to see some really cool views it was free to visit . Very cool place even for kids they were never board
We love this place and visit often. It's a lovely walk from the bay back in to the woods. Kayaking is pretty intense. I'm a moderately experienced kayaker and likely would not attempt this. If you do, make sure to have a helmet.
We often walk along the Petoskey waterfront and the Bear River trails when we are in Petoskey. The park walk along the waterfront is all paved and completely open to Little Traverse Bay. This is an amazing walking/running trail. The trail follows both sides of the Bear River. Although you are in city limits, it feels like you are far from civilation.
