This is right next door to Whitefish Point Lighthouse. Worker was studying birds and had interesting insight. Definitely stop if you visit the lighthouse, which is highly recommended.
Cute little gift shop on the grounds. So many birds! Loved to walk down to the waterfront. Whitefish Point is a quick little stop that is a must see.
I can't say that I specifically went bird watching here, but I did go in to the observatory and chatted with the very kind workers there and saw the charts they had for the birds spotted that day. A small number of sandy trails led through scrub trees and driftwood to the water of Lake Superior. We didn't see a lot of birds on the trails, but along the water there were various types of shorebirds. We walked the sandy/pebbly beach for about an hour exploring the area, enjoying the colored rocks and driftwood. Great area for exploring.
Not only is this area beautiful, but is full of amazing Lake Superior rocks, water and waves. The museum is for any history lover and the story of the Edmond Fitzgerald, along with viewing the relics of the ship is worth the admission.
