The Hackley and Hume Historic Site features the restored homes of Muskegon's most well-known lumber barons with outstanding wood carving, stained glass windows, and period furnishings. A guided tour of the homes offers visitors a look at life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. During the summer months, there are often games on the lawn for our young visitors. The Site is open from May to October.

Havent been there in a few years, but it is a must see. Especially during Halloween or Christmas. The decor is jaw dropping. Take time on the tour to appreciate the craftsmanship of every detail of these homes. Victorian period themes. You just dont see this type of craftsmanship done in a home anymore.

Great place to visit if you appreciate detailed Craftsman ship of years past. The detailed trim work is unbelievable. Glad that these homes are being saved and shown to public

Not for small children who might be bored and who want to touch what they see. But our 9yo was fascinated with the way they had to do things. Also a reminder of what it takes to sustain opulence.

Beautiful workmanship and surprising history. Enjoyed this tour for a simple afternoon out. Our guide was informative and friendly. Would recommend for any visitors who get tired of the water. Head back a couple blocks to see the Fire Station and Depression-Era Home, while you're in the neighborhood.

I loved the two houses. The architecture alone was worth the visit. One was very Gothic and the other one was very 30's chic.

Turn of the century homes of lumber barons/millionaires. These homes have been very well preserved and adorned in the period of the late Mr. Hackley and Mr. Hume, when lumber barons were the Great Lakes version of kings. The architecture alone is worth the visit, but there is so much more. History buffs will love it, and even the kids... 更多

My 22-yr-old granddaughter and I spent a day on the express ferry Milwaukee to Muskegon and back. In Muskegon we toured these two side-by-side homes. They are well preserved and restored. Woodwork is amazing! Our guide was able to answer every question. A most interesting and educational experience.

These two homes are the former residences of leaders in the Michigan lumber industry from the late 1800s. Our family likes visiting old homes and buildings whenever we have a chance, and these homes were wonderful to visit. If you are into architecture, woodwork, stained glass, history, etc., you will enjoy them immensely. The first home (Hackley's) was much more... 更多

I highly recommend this tour. You need a good 1-2 hours to enjoy both houses. Our 6 year old son did well on the 1st house but didn't last for the 2nd one. I had to take a break with him and my wife finished the second house. It's very educational and gives you a prespective of how the rich... 更多

If you like history, you must visit Hackley and Hume homes. It is the Hackley House that is like none other. The man put thought into every inch of this house. There are messages in the woodwork and in every corner. Seriously, I can not describe the small details that make this house special. I hope I am not over... 更多
