My husband who loves and appreciates art was blown away by this museum. He said it would rival many NY collections. This was the highlight of his ten day trip to Nicaragua. In the center of town it is a best kept secret.
When we visited, there was a visiting exhibition of Warhol and Jasper Johns, two artists that we didn't expect to see in Nicaragua! The buildings themselves are stunning, colonial courtyards with quaint gardens and fountains, edged with the art works of greats. Definitely worth a visit, you might be surprised.
The artwork here is constantly changing and always beautiful. There are three buildings to look at that all have very different themes and artists. My personal favorite room is a room of Picasso pencil sketches. If you are looking for a higher scale museum in Nicaragua, this is the one to go to! Oh it's also maybe 3 dollars to... 更多
Contemporary museum in a former home. The house itself is very large with many rooms and multiple courtyards and is just beautiful. The museum is an eclectic mix of contemporary art from many countries. One problem we encountered is that several times natural light reflected off the art work making it difficult to see. But otherwise, a must visit.
There are some significant pieces of art in this gallery, particularly given the relatively small size of Leon. The open courtyard approach to the exhibitions makes it a pleasant meandering experience. The art is displayed across several courtyard rooms. It probably takes about an hour to wander around and is worth a visit.
We came here a few years ago. Today we were very impressed by the collection. It is much larger and broader in its showing. Definitely would recommend it. Entrance fee is only $2.
A beautiful museum in a colonial house with lovely courtyard gardens. An impressive collection, too... while we were there, there was a visiting collection from Warhol and others. But my favorite part was the gallery with abstract and modern pieces from Central American artists.
I was very glad I went to this museum. While there were few artists' works that I was familiar with (a few, small works from Picasso, Rivera, etc.), there is an extensive collection from Central American artists that were exquisite. The museum is extremely uncrowded and is "open-air", with each building/room really being an open courtyard. It makes for a... 更多
