A must see for maritime enthusiasts, or history buffs. This proud ship has a highly respected past which you will learn all about on your semi self guided tour. She was a very important ship during WW2, and for that alone, this is a must see. If you are a Michigander, she will make you feel very proud of her... 更多
We probably would not have done this tour if the weather had been nice, so I’m happy we had the rain! This was a really interesting ship to explore. It was self-guided, with people at various points to talk about different items or rooms. Some guides were missing since we snuck in as the last tour, but most things were... 更多
The self guided tour is very informative. I never realized how powerful an ice breaker is. I'd recommend the tour to everyone.
We enjoyed that it was a self-guided tour. The only person that gave any info was Bill in the engine room. He gave a nice history then let us go on our own. Be prepared for the stairs! More like ladders. By the time we were done, my legs were a little worn but it was well worth the effort.... 更多
We really enjoyed this self guided tour. Has movies and information along the way about the Mackinaw. When we got down to one of the engine rooms there was a gentleman there that had served 3 tours (10 years) on the Mackinaw he was very informative, kind and funny. We had our 3 & 5 year old with us and... 更多
The staff really made the the visit very nice. The history of the two engines, Jake and Elwood, was cool. Not for everyone but if boats and the like are your interest then this is the attraction!
This is a self guided tour with informational signs and videos posted about. You really get an idea of the working environment these men had to work through (It could get up to 120 degrees in the engine room, before they got air conditioning). It's awe inspiring. Truely maze-like and a true gem was meeting and talking to Chuck (a... 更多
As a self guided tour, you have plenty of time to linger on points that interest you. The ship was immediately turned over to the society when it was decommissioned, so every thing is original and as was in service. the crew only removed their personal belongings.
This ship looks as though it could go out in the water today. It is a retired ice breaker, It is a floating museum. It is not in dry dock. Lots of ladders to climb. Plenty of areas to explore. Guides are on the ship to assist and answer questions but you are free to explore the ship at your... 更多
