Incredible vistas at every turn, the relaxing melody of water streaming out of several iconic fountains, the comforting smell of flowers in one of the many remarkable gardens, the feeling of history and architectural wonder all around you…just a taste of what awaits at Cranbrook House and Gardens, a National Historic Landmark.

Cranbrook House is a 1908 estate designed in the Arts & Crafts style by noted Detroit architect, Albert Kahn, for the founders of Cranbrook, newspaper mogul George Gough Booth and his wife, Ellen Scripps Booth. From spring through fall, guests can tour the oldest manor home in metro-Detroit and the beautiful 40 acres of gardens that surround it; both maintained brilliantly by a non-profit, volunteer run organization, Cranbrook House and Gardens Auxiliary.

We invite you to explore our historic estate, take a tour, join a program or attend an event. Members/volunteers and donations are always welcome as well. We hope you enjoy your time at Cranbrook House and Gardens and thank you in advance for visiting!

We stopped for a stroll in the gardens. Very nice and well kept. We did not tour the house as this was an impromptu visit. I wish we had more time. Definitely a lot to see. And its free.

The historic Cranbrook House and Gardens is one of several attractions worth seeing on the grounds of the Cranbrook Educational Community. Built by a family who had a love for the arts, this wonderful English Arts & Crafts style home reflects their superb taste. The house is filled with beautiful furnishings and art objects, as well as exquisite architectural details.... 更多

Great place to go on a date! My wife and I really enjoyed it! (girlfriend when we went!) Lots of things to see, walk through and chat about. Try to hit it in June or after for the best colors and weather to truly appreciate it!

We are privileged to have Cranbrook and its museums and gardens in our area. Much of it is maintained by devoted volunteers. The docents are very knowledgable and the green thumbs of the gardens keep the gardens ever blooming

We went for the Christmas tree displays, they were beautiful. I was expecting a tour of the house, I guess not much of the house is open. I wish more of the house could be shown, but its crossed of my list. Even in winter the gardens and yard is wonderful to walk around. The gift shop was a surprise... 更多

The gardens and grounds are a great place to spend an afternoon. Immediately surrounding the house are several beautiful fountains and water features, and immaculately groomed English gardens. You can also take the stairs downhill to see the grotto and walk completely around the lake. You will pass through Japanese Gardens and over a waterfall, the lake has swans and... 更多

2 friends who live nearby and I went to visit here on a gorgeous, sunny day. We had a lovely time. We were early for the tour (check online, there aren't a lot of times), so we explored the grounds a bit and they are well taken care of and it's quite peaceful. Our tour of the house was about... 更多

The gardens are worth the visit. The home tour not so much. There is no air conditioning and the home was musty and hot. The tour last 1 1/2 hours + standing the entire time. The home has many beautiful pieces of furniture, art ,etc. but they dwell on the large tapestries. There are 4-5 tapestries in each room, it... 更多

The two docents who spoke to us during the tour were VERY knowledgeable and interesting. The house is an Arts and Crafts model of a Tudor house built in 1908. Every detail incorporated into the building and decoration of the house was interesting, as the Booth/Scripps families built the house on basically bare ground as they sought to move farther... 更多

What a special place. We toured the grounds for hours (for free!) and the gardens are lovely. Lots of great photo opportunities. We took the house tour and both the hosts were very well versed about the history of the house and property. A really well spent afternoon.
