I must have visited the Memorial at least 25 times. Each time I read each letter on the stones. I have taken groups of high school students to the Memorial and they become silent immediately. The Memorial is a beautiful and serene location in the second largest city in New England.
This is a place all should visit. It is beautiful and very emotionable. You can spend any amount of time.There are beautiful places to sit or just walk.
Again another tour. I'm especially nostalgic over this memorial. Not really a history buff, but when its history that has taken part in my life time, or a fascination of a particular event, like WWII, John F. Poignant, peaceful and respectful; so glad that it is located in Worcester. There is always a breeze on that hill and it is a healthy walking atmosphere for many age groups.
This was wonderful!! We go there off and on now.Some of the Large stones have letters that were written to family and friends. So perfect. You really get a feel for the man or woman that wrote them and what their family must have gone thru.
I wasn't prepared to read the letters home from the boys in Vietnam. So normal, and yet when you realize those every day messages were their last, you don't take life and the little things for granted. Sweet letters. Tasteful, respectful tribute. Very peaceful setting. Bring Kleenex.
This site is an area of four acres, and consists of a pond, walking paths, benches, flowers, trees, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. A Vietnam War Dog granite Memorial (specifically honoring the service and sacrifice of 4,000 dogs) is also part of the complex. The setting is so beautiful.
