This is a small place but the staff are very knowledgeable. Bob, the 88 yr old Docent was fantastic, passionate and descriptive! Lots of info on the area's history!
The Woods Hole Historical Museum offers a 'scientific' walking tour of Woods Hole. Our guide, Brendan, was delightful and informative. Did you know that Woods Hole was a major whaling ship builder and port? Did you know that the major industry in the 1860s, employing over 600 men, was the processing of bird excrement that came to Woods Hole from the Pacific Ocean? Those and other stories can be found at this wonderful museum.

The museum comes truly alive in the summer (avoid winter) Since it's basically managed bu passionate locals, they make this Tiny museum worth your visit. Some of the exhibits like the handmade row boats truly take you back in time. No fee is charged but a gratuity is suggested.
Fun little attraction that has some interesting history and treasures from the past. The volunteer docents and very knowledgeable and entertaining - worth a stop in.
Smal local museum tracing history of Woods Hole. Didn't know the fertilizer history. Also has several ship models . Limited parking. Right next to the library.

The model of Woods Hole is amazing. Be sure to ask to view Yale house, you do need a docent to let you in. The pictures of last winter... 更多
