This was a beautiful little gem that we found. Great walking trails and a lovely beach right on the Chesapeake. Take some time to explore the park. Beautiful flowers, too.
We are amazed by this wonderful hidden beach next to the trails. Almost don't want to write a review for fear that more people will arrive... Great open water swimming. Skinny beach, and no fresh water showers.
We spent two wonderful hours walking on the Terrapin trails through woods and roads. The trails were flat enough so we could jog on the roads, which were clearly marked. It's easy, walkable flat terrain at Terrapin Nature Park, with wide, fairly well-maintained paths for walking or bicycling. We noticed only two port-a-potties in the park (one was out of toilet paper) and no water fountains. The paths could have better signage, and there were no printed trail maps available although there were a couple of "you are here" map... 更多
If you're looking for a quick beach trip outside of DC, Kent Island is a good choice. Terrapin Nature Park specifically, is an easy walk before getting to the beach. On the walk, you'll pass a couple marshes, areas for grilling, and a few trails. I was there on Sunday in late June and it was surprising not too busy.... 更多
