Went here with my Mom and teenage boy. We are all interested in history. We were pleasantly surprised with the tour. The docent, Kari, was very knowledgeable and painted a clear picture of the Suratt's involvement in the Civil War. They also have some museum exhibits and give you lots of brochures and information to take home with you. I... 更多
If you are interested in Civil War History and conspiracy theories this is a must place for you. The docents tell the story of Mary Surratt, the first woman hung in the United States, for her role in the Lincoln assassination. Many believe she was an innocent women. Her son was involved with the plotters to kill the president and... 更多
My wife and I were in town for a wedding and had a few hours to kill. We thought we would check out the lone historical attraction. We had no idea it would be so informative, educational and entertaining. More history in 45 minutes than I ever expected. The interpreter did a great job.
Surratt House Museum offers a well organized and comfortable 12+ hour tour of the Booth Escape Route. If you are a history buff and interested in seeing the route Booth took after the Lincoln assassination, this is an excellent tour. It helps to have read one or two books such as Manhunt or American Brutus before the trip. Otherwise, it... 更多
For those into history, this is a nice little stop. This is part of the John Wilkes Booth story. It is a stop on the as JWBooth escape, tour. Well maintained and the staff was very knowledgable about the whole story behind the story. It helps if you are a history buff.
While I enjoyed much about this tour, such as seeing the presidential box at Ford's Theater, the Surratt Tavern, and Dr. Mudd's House, the tour guide left much to be desired. On our day his name was (I believe) John. In numerous ways over the course of the day he politicized the Booth escape story. This tour is expensive and... 更多
The previous review described the excellent tour guides, comfortable bus, and well-organized 12-hour day. I agree with it all. I would like to add how invaluable it was for me to ACTUALLY SEE the sites and experience the terrain that John Wilkes Booth and David Herold navigated during their adventure. I have read a good bit on the Lincoln assassination... 更多
The John Wilkes Booth Escape Route Tour is administered by the Surratt House Museum in Clinton, MD. The bus trip (on a chartered bus, very comfortable, complete with bathroom) leaves from the museum and proceeds through the various places that JW Booth traveled to as he attempted to escape those in pursuit of him after he shot President Lincoln at... 更多
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to this museum. Although the house appears small and you might wonder if it is worth the drive, it is! The tour lasts roughly 45 minutes and is greatly narrated by the guides. They also expertly intertwine the story of Lincoln's assasination and the involvement of the Surratt's with the history of the house and... 更多
I enjoyed my visit to the Surratt House. I'm a history buff (especially when it comes to Lincoln) so I knew the story of JWB and his conspirators but, this tour offered extra details that haven't been in books I've read. My tour guide was excellent! I wish I could remember her name. : ( It was easy to get... 更多
