This museum in Rockland, Me is a unique collection of artifacts and artwork collected by Jim Sharp. Jim captained the windjammer Adventure out of Camden, Maine for many years and now is sharing his maritime lore!
An interesting collection of artifacts, one focusing on both the history of sailing and the history of steam power, all under the same roof. The collections in this museum have been assembled lovingly over many years by Captain Jim Sharp and various friends, people who care deeply about preserving our sailing heritage. If you have ever wanted to hear grrat... 更多
At the end of the lovely shoreline walking path (Rockland Port Trail?) we happened upon this gem of a museum. We were lucky enough to chat with the very knowledgeable and charming, Capt. Jim Sharp, who founded this beautifully put together museum. The nice variety of displays are well arranged and well maintained. Don't miss the video on the sailing... 更多
This is more than a museum--it is a place where stories of the Maine coast come alive. Capt. Jim Sharp's tales of the sea reverberate as he tells them--because he lived them. There is also ongoing boat restoration, a 60 foot schooner for charter, and more.
This is an interesting collection of ship models, history, machines etc having to do with the Sea. Included is a narwhal tusk and items from Arctic expeditions. The ship models are worth viewing. The guides offer much detail and trivia although the exhibits can be viewed independently.
My husband and I keep our boat in Rockland Harbor and my husband is in the marine industry so we had to stop by as this one-of-a-kind, thoughtfully put-together museum is a jewel in Rockland's crown. We stayed for a long time admiring the beautiful collections and following the laptop provided to guide us through the tour. Bravo!
My wife and I took a Road Scholar tour this fall and the Sail Power and Steam Museum was on the itinerary, and it was one of the highlights of our trip! There are many unique exhibits in the museum, and Captain Sharp is one of a kind with experiences and knowledge to share. If you're touring in the Rockland... 更多
Don't miss the chance to learn about the nautical history of Maine from Captain Jim Sharp. A beautiful location on Rockland Harbor.
Our visit to the Sail, Power and Steam Museum went down as one of the highlights of our visit in Maine. We had just completed a 4-day sailing adventure on one of the Windjammers and our captain took us to this delightful museum. Jim Sharp, museum curator and designer, gave us a personal tour not just facts and figures but... 更多
