On the basis of other posts, four fit older folks tried the Rockland Breakwater walk to the Lighthouse on a sunny summer day. We all agreed that we were glad we could say we had done it, but we also agreed that we were not prepared for what we experienced: it was hot, it required mental diligence to keep track... 更多
Enjoyable walk out to the lighthouse, and a nice stroll back. A unique experience on our trip. The walkway is safe, for those who may have questions. It can get a bit windy and you may get a bit wet, though, so protect your camera.
After visiting the Breakwater Winery we trekked our way out to the light. I say trek because you can't stroll it walk. The stones are uneven and some have good size gaps. We didn't find the walk difficult but we did need to pay attention. We enjoyed sitting on the rocks watching the lobster boats and buoys. It's well worth... 更多
Work off some of that lobster roll and ice cream you've been feasting on and walk this almost mile long trek to the Breakwater light. At first, it seems never ending, but you will get there and the reward is absolute - you are out in the middle of the ocean - truly unique.
First thing to know is when the tides are in or out so you do not get wet get. Then it is a comfortable walk from Samoset Golf club behind you and the light house in front.
We enjoyed the long walk down the breakwater, but we were disappointed when we arrived at the lighthouse and found, despite looking up times on the website, that it was closed! One neat part is the live webcam they have on the breakwater. My family back at home got on and I waved to them on the camera.
A 7/8 of a mile walk and back out to this lighthouse. Along the breakwater, most rocks were large, but sometimes precise stepping was needed around the unevenness. We were there at high tide and water was about 2 feet below the rocks. Once at the light, the view to shore was spectacular. There are benches to sit on at... 更多
Our family really enjoyed walking out to the lighthouse. Fortunately the weather was perfect for hiking the granite rocks that pave the way. After reading many reviews I debated on whether to go or not. I'm glad that we did. My biggest concern was that it is important to watch where you are stepping constantly. It was hard for me... 更多
I've visited the breakwater many times. Wonderful walk for anyone, of course with toddlers, might be better to just walk on the beach. Cool and refreshing, great place to walk Fido,Locals fishing, Lobster boats hauling, and Schooners flying! At the end is the lighthouse, with a gift shop inside. Wonderful place to take your lunch, or morning coffee.
