I really enjoyed my visit. Make sure you visit the two buildings in the back! I enjoyed seeing it surrounded by local artists on first night. I can't wait to go back!
We spent about and hour and a half exploring the Portland Art Museum. The staff, especially Sally at the front desk, were helpful and delightful. They have a great selection of Maine artists and other famous artists as well. I very much enjoyed the restored house that had been annexed to the museum. The gift shop was definitely well appointed... 更多
The original home that housed the art museum is a beautiful part of the exhibits. Great kid activities, easily navigated and not overwhelming. The staff was great; very friendly and knowledgeable.
The Portland Museum of Art is a fine small museum on its own, but it is worth the time and money to purchase/or make a reservation to visit Winslow Homer's studio. The museum owns the property and is able to transport you to the studio for an additional fee. The twenty minute ride is a fact filled ride on Homer's... 更多
The museum offers free admission on Friday evenings. What a privilege to view all the beautiful art. They also have areas for children which was wonderful. I would definitely go there again!
Well curated collection. The size and organization allows for a nice, relaxed visit without feeling overwhelmed. I recommend visiting on Friday evenings when it is free!
The Portland Museum of Art is the perfect size for casual art enthusiasts. It has an interesting collection and the featured exhibit of Maritime art was exceptional. The fact that Friday nights are free admission is awesome as well. My girlfriend and I had a great time just strolling around for about an hour.
it he Portland museum is a delightful relaxing evening out with spouse, friends or just as some mommy quiet time. We met some friends, had dinner and then a great evening wondering thru the museum and enjoying and sharing. The art was amazing and diverse and extremely beautiful. Love this museum and unexpected education that comes from an evening.
This is a real jewel. Varied art collections during the year. A place that tourist or locals should visit when in town. It is worth the money spent.
Love this art museum. It's conveniently located in the heart of Portland. Near by is the children's museum which makes a great Family day destination. The museum is special to me as my great great grandfather Charles F. Kimball an 1800's Portland landscape artist has several of his paintings on display. The museum hosts special exhibits throughout the year and... 更多
Some fine art from world class painters. The current exhibit of marine paintings, mostly of the NYC harbor ( the exhibit is on loan from the NYC Historical Society) was worth seeing. The gift shop is a gem. Friday evenings are free admission, so it can be crowded then.
The museum is not large but hosts a wide variety of styles and collections. We were surprised by the mix of impressionist Monet's with the Winslow Homer's. Lots to discover. The staff were fantastic. As I asked a few questions on the Homer wood cut illustrations, a staff member opened a cabinet and shared a booklet with a detailed description... 更多
