Parking is limited and may be an issue. This is an interesting place to way around however not very big and not a lot of information to take in. As mentioned this is a cool way to spend 30-40 minutes not to mention its free.
Free to visit and wander through the nicely maintained ruins. Gives an idea of the conditions in which soldiers and milicia lived in this stategic defense fort.
I have been to Fort Popham seceral times with my husband. We never tire of the history and views. June 2016 we went with two family members, one who was 10. All four of us enjoyed the history, the views of the river and ocean from everywhere inside the fort snd on top. We enjoyed the fun of climbing inside... 更多

My fiance had never been to Maine and I knew this was a place I needed to take him to see while we were there. He enjoyed the history information, as well as seeing seals in the water and enjoying the beautiful weather.

We explored the old fort on Labor Day weekend. we really enjoyed exploring the yard, reading the historical information, and marveling at the way the stones were set to support each other. Sitting right on the beach, we were able to take a long walk , too. This place is definitely worth a stop.
