Saw the sign as we were driving by, and decided to stop. What an incredible little garden!! First of all, it's not very little. Lots of little, well-maintained paths lead you from one surprise to another. With the addition of the falls colors, the garden was simply stunning. And free !!!!
To call this an Azalea Garden is a bit misleading as it really is more like a Japanese Garden, replete with myriad/different types of trees, ponds, and an incredibly beautiful placement of everything that it houses. It is a serene setting that invites quiet exploration and wonder - despite the fact that one of its borders is a well-travelled route... 更多
We arrived in this area on a misty day and looked for something interesting to do. These gardens are across from the inn where we stayed so we walked over to investigate. They are indeed beautiful, even in mist. Be sure to bring a camera.
From the tourist literature we thought Thuja would be the must-see garden and this one a maybe. For us the reverse was true. Asticou is smaller but more interesting by far. Stop in the parking lot (careful, signage is minimal and hard to spot) just off the road and spend a leisurely half hour wandering the paths. You'll find yourself... 更多
The gardens were recommended by our innkeepers and it was a pleasant delight. We were able to take a relaxing leisurely stroll through beautifully landscaped lawns, ponds, rock sculptures, and a sand garden. It is really an amazing work of art how they've designed the land to maximize its beauty. Such an array of different flowers and trees. Great visit... 更多
Happened upon this little gem on our way to other sites... glad we stopped in. Beautiful and serene are the first words to come to mind. A very leisurely stroll brought scenic view at each turn and plenty of photo opportunities. We felt alone despite there being a few other visitors spread about. No fee, but be sure to make... 更多
If you want to visit a tranquil place of peace, make this a stop on your trip around The Quietside of Mt. Desert Island. We accidentally found this beautifully sculptured & manicured garden surrounding a pond, and altho' the azaleas were past bloom, it was still so worth the stroll to investigate all the nooks & crannies of the garden.
When you are in the area, this is such a great place to take a break! It is small, beautiful and accessible with many areas to sit and just enjoy the ambiance. We took a walk across the street and found an equally charming short trail through a wooded area that went down to the water.
