Grafton Notch State Park is accessed on Rt 26 heading West from Bethel, or Rt 26 in New Hampshire. The road is winding and narrow with great views. There are several stops that you can make along the way. Screw Auger Falls is a great place for a picnic and requires very little walking to enjoy the views of the... 更多
If you aren't A hiker you might want to try stick boat races. Just find a stick with your friends and toss into the river. whoever goes over the falls first wins. lots of fun. keeps you moving up and down the bank for a little exercise. All so you can enjoy taking some scenic photographs of the falls and... 更多
Wight Brooke Nature Preserve/Step Falls is tucked away off the road, and apparently, only recently has had signage put out on Rte. 26 N. Less than an easy mile from the small parking area, the falls tumble down over magnificent boulders. The wooded area surrounding the falls is serene and especially colorful in the autumn. Only one mile farther on... 更多
We very much enjoyed our visit here just barely past "peak" leaf season so it wasn't crowded but still plenty of leaves to peep. Great parking areas at key spots but they're not huge, picnic areas are pretty well maintained and the outhouses were very clean. Trails to scenic spots are easy walking but watch your step because you ARE... 更多
Well worth a stop- several items of note a short walk off the highway and access to long trails readily available. Water levels very low during our Oct 16 visit so the full effect of some locations was dimished.
What a beautiful area of Maine! We stopped at Screw Auger Falls, Mother Walker Falls & Moose Cave. The fall leaves during the second week of October were at their peak. It was a majestic drive.
We took several drives and walks through Grafton Notch State Park in search for moose. While we didn't see any moose, it is a beautiful park! I highly recommend going to Screw Auger Falls. It's so fun to walk out amongst the falls, it's a great experience. The state park is perfect for driving, hiking, walking, picnics, etc.
Made several stops in the park while doing a day excursion out of Bethel. The only unfortunate things is the summer drought had lowered the water levels in several of the waterfalls we visited but the scenery was still wonderful.
We had family from Maryland come visit and wanted to take them on a hike that wasn't to difficult and had a great view. We thought table rock fot that bill. We choose the easier trail since we brought our 2 labs with us. This trail was very easy took about an hour to get to the top. The view... 更多
Beautiful mountain views, would be stunning in fall color-we are just a little early. Screw Auger Falls is amazing -water flows through twisty scourged boulders. Moose Cave formed by huge rock that fell into the gorge. Number of hiking trails. Fun to explore.
