If you don't have much time in Bangor, this is the reminder to bring home with you: pictures of Paul Bunyan statue! We stayed across the street at Hollywood Casino Hotel and this was our only memento of the place. As it's thoughtfully placed in town, that was a quick way to remember our trip there.
Iconic statue for a state proud of its forestry heritage. Looks like it was freshly painted, and it is well-maintained. The best part is that it stands in front of the new Cross insurance center, which is an impressive facility. Before all the development Paul Bunyon use to stand here pretty much on his own. The street running in front of him use to be one of the only ways to get to the "Airline" if driving from the south and heading to the border. It is a quick photo-op stop as the statue is the only thing here.
Kind of an odd place for such a statue, but interesting.
