Well kept cemetery. Lots of walkways that can take you through the whole cemetery. Park like setting. Nice for just a walk through when you want quiet time. No pets allowed however.
Staff at the office was very helpful when verified burial arrangements for a relative. They told me they had a cell phone app to help locate graves. They had to give me a number and send me a text with the web address of the app for download. Using the app made finding several graves much easier.
This is a must on a lovely day. Please remember that it is a place of rest and respect for many families still living in Louisville. Of course, you MUST check out Colonel Sander's grave.
It is beautiful, and grateful to spread our aunt's ashes there as a family. Even though we visited for a memorial, the beauty and serenity are worth a walk.
Sounds strange to say a cemetery is peaceful, but it is true, There is every species of tree in KY represented on the grounds. Interesting markers and the pond, ducks, swans and peacocks are enjoyable. Wish they had tours with some history and stories year round. Take a picnic and enjoy an afternoon.
Go to Louisville and visit a cemetery? You've GOT to be kidding, right? Nope! You will not be sad you went! It was beautiful and peaceful and historic-- all in one! There are historical walking tours (twilight, garden, civil war-- what's your pleasure?) There are beautiful fountains in the lake and swans, squirrels, chipmunks, geese all add to the tranquility.... 更多
We visited for an internment and ended up milling about after our service concluded. While we did take a gander at some of the more famous graves, we spent more time looking at the remarkable beauty of the family plots belonging to people we'd never heard of
I have visited many old cemeteries and found Cave Hill to be one of the prettiest and best kept. Lots of history here including military from the Civil War to present. The grounds were blooming with Dogwood, Redbud, Red Maple, bulbs and azaleas. Very beautiful and as we drove around and walked the hills there was a feeling of peace... 更多
You will be amazed at the number of famous people who are buried at the Cave Hill Cemetery. People like Col. Harlan Sanders (founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken), many civil war heros, to name a few of the surprizes which can be seen there.
A very beautiful, old cemetery. While it may not have as many grand tombs as say Spring Grove in Cincinnati, it's nonetheless quite a beautiful spot.
