I love history and the dedication to our fallen heros, although there was not alot to see. The road traveling to get there is very dangerous and if you meet a car even more because there are not guardrails. We did meet a local there and her son, she said she does hiking there frequently. It was beautiful scenery.
Most civil war battlefields have been altered drastically since the battle took place. This field is very much the same as it was when the battle took place. The trenches are visible and very well preserved. With that being said, it is not fully accessable to individuals with disabilities (the terrain is naturally rugged and is privately maintained) and many... 更多
As a history Professor and avid Civil War buff and Kentuckian I love visiting this place which is one of the earliest battles of the Civil War-- also great 4 wheeling in area and lots lodging in nearby London and the best lake in US Cumberland Lake only 30 miles away.
Trenches still intact from the Civil War down the walking path. Being from this area I know that most of the area has been stripped of artifacts. The feds Took this area over several years ago. Previously metal detector enthusiast hunted this area to death. As I have seen display cases full of artifacts. Still worth the stop
Great out of the way location. Not far from the Interstate, but a incredible scenic drive. Very well kept location, with very clean vault toilettes (fancey out house), and good interpretive wayside of the battle. Theres two battle related trails and the Sheltowee trail. The side road up to the sight is gravel but well graded- I was in a... 更多
This is an unusual historical site. A civil war battlefield that is located on the Old Wilderness Road. The location is easily accessible by motor vehicle but is off the beaten path. It's worth the time it takes to find it though. Take exit 49 off of I-75 and follow the signs to exit off of US 25. The battlefield... 更多
3 miles from the interstate you come to this site. There wasn't too much to see, but interesting story and very well kept. This was Kentucky's first taste of battle in the Civil War so history buffs will still appreciate being here.
If you like civil war history, then this is worth the trip. It's a little bit off the beaten path and the road to drive up to it is ok in most spots!
This battlefield is one of the few that have not been changed due to modern life. The centre of the... 更多
