In order to access the history of Ft. Leavenworth you need to be active or retired military. There's a lot of history on the post and especially loved the Buffalo Soldiers Memorial Park which honored the black soldiers during the Civil War. If u can find it there is a museum on post, the Frontier Army Museum, that has a... 更多

The installation is beautifully maintained and is filled with a rich historic history. I personal did not expect or ever dream that I would settle down in the Greater Kansas area and work on the installation. But now that we have been here for over 9 years we would never dream of going anywhere else to live or work.
For family time and great history lessons, this is a great military installation. The Buffalo Soldier monument and the Circle of Firsts, the oldest buildings in Kansas, the Santa Fe Trail, and well maintained historical buildings with new buildings blending in. Cannons overlooking the river bend, Lewis and Clark Expedition, the Frontier Museum. This is more than just a weekend... 更多
Not only is there a very interesting museum, there are a lot of other notable "attractions" on the base. Be sure to stop at the Visitor's Center for clearance before heading to the main gate. Ft. Leavenworth played many major roles throughout our country's history. Truly fascinating.
There's a lot of great history at Ft Leavenworth from Lewis and Clark, the Missouri River crossing, the Buffalo Soldiers and the US Disciplinary Barracks. Come check it out.
The Army installation is beautifully maintain with a mixture of old brick home and new homes. Many of the new buildings for training, offices, and dining facilities are brick to blend in with the old. A must visit especially is the Buffalo Soldier and Park.
Located just north of downtown Leavenworth, the Fort is the oldest U.S. Army installation west of the Mississippi. It occupies a key location on the Missouri River overlooking a large area of Missouri and Kansas. The old stone buildings of the fort are historic in their own right. If you have a chance to tour the base you won't be... 更多
Much of the old fort buildings, grounds have been preserved. Love going there to explore. The fort is also the site of the Army's Diciplinary Barracks and the Command and Staff college for officers headed for the full colonel and above ranks.
