Considering that you're in a small to middle sized town in the middle of Kansas, this is a pretty good zoo! And it's free! I grew up in North Carolina, where the zoo is gigantic and the animals have large enclosures, and this is not that kind of zoo. But when compared against other city zoos, they do a nice... 更多
When I moved here I was shocked to find a zoo in the middle of downtown in a small town in Kansas let alone a free zoo. I feel in love instantly, the animals have such big personalities and the zoo keepers are tops. I joined the zoo society and later the zoo board and its a fantastic place to... 更多
Brit Spaugh Zoo in Great Bend, KS is a wonderful little free zoo. For my three children, ages 6 and under, it is the perfect size to keep them interested but also not tire them out. The zookeepers are all amazing and go out of their way to make your experience even better. It also is home to some lesser... 更多
You can browse at your leisure, Rest when you want, see lot's of different animals, best of all, it is on a donation basis. If you like it a lot, you can give a lot. If you don't like very much, well that's up to you.
My grandson and I visited. We needed to gt going so it was a quick visit. We both enjoyed it. The zoo is small which was nice as I have some difficulty walking. The animals looked well cared for. They had a nice little playground. If we had had more time the park adjoining looked like a place my grandson... 更多
Yes, FREE!. Admittedly, I would have liked the enclosures to be a bit larger to accommodate the animals, but you work off the budget and property provided. Great selection from grizzlies and lions to alligators and a butterfly pavilion. Highly recommend to visit. Go Cats
I lived in Wichita prior to moving here, so I was used to going to the sedgwick county zoo. But for a smaller town, and the fact it is free, this zoo is second to none! They also have volunteering opportunities which I have done in the past and it was amazing! I was able to fix the food for... 更多
The zoo smelled so bad the day we were there we had to keep our noses overed - and the wind was blowing. More than 3/4 of the animal enclosures were empty, the warm weather animals had been put away for the winter (even tho it was 84 when we were there). The entire west side of the zoo was... 更多
Great little zoo. No admission fee, just donations. We spent over an hour checking out all the exhibits. Good spot if you brought the kids. Worth seeing.
Admission is by donation which I think is awesome considering the wonderful job they do here! The animals all seem contented and do not look undernourished or improperly taken care of. It's never crowded so you feel free to meander through the exhibits at your own pace.
