My Father was a Captain in the Army and we lived in the left half of the mansion. Trust me when I say this mansion is haunted!
If you are traveling through Fort Riley, and you are not in a hurry, you need to stop in for a visit to the Custer House and First Division Museum. It will take about 15 minutes to get a pass from the main gate. Then you need at least an hour to see the museums. They have so much information.... 更多
This isn't really Custer's house as that no longer exists. But this house is similar to the one he and his wife lived in at Ft. Riley. The house is two floors, large, furnished with pieces from that era and gives you an idea of how an infantry officer lived. There is a docent at the house who can give... 更多
I didn't realize that this was a guided tour building so I let myself in and ran into a tour in progress. Still it wasn't very busy and the guide was relaxed, informative, and happy to take questions. This isn't actually Custer's house, but an exact replica.

There is no fee, but donations are accepted to help maintain... 更多

Touring the old west on a modern Military Post was so much fun and very educational. The Calvary of old were some tough fellas. The restoration project is continuing but it was great to see the Old Post.
