The current mill is a reproduction of mills that have stood in this location. The gentleman working at the mill was very knowledgeable of the mill history and very happy to share. It is interesting to see the mill in operation.
This is no longer a working mill, however, the wheel still turns and it's a great photo op. It also contains a gift shop with some unusual mustards and jellies....we bought some habanero Dijon mustard and some FROG jelly (fig, raspberry, orange & ginger).
Hubby and I had couple of hours to check out some local sights. Although mill is interesting could not get close due to some construction activity. Store had very little to look at and shopkeeper was not forthcoming with any historical information or enthusiasm. Would not bother visiting again.
Stopped in the mill during the Stressenfest weekend of events. It was a nice little find that adds some scenic flair to this part of the city. We enjoyed reading/learning about the original mill that this reproduction replaced. Def worth stopping in if you are in the city.
This is a new mill built by the county park department from the ground up on the area of an old mill long since gone. The building is beautiful and park staff operators very informative. The place is warm in atmosphere and the education they do is important.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Jasper Mill. Be sure to ask the employee on site to 'turn it on' for you if it's not already running while you're there. A lovely mill rebuilt that serves as a quaint reminder of the past. Visit the nice gift shop inside with unique items and specialty jams. NO FEE to explore... 更多
The Jasper City Mill is a reconstructed replica of a mill that formerly stood at this location. It is fully operational and visitors can climb stairs inside to view the workings of the mill. Corn meal that is ground there is available for purchase along with other small souvenirs. The gentleman that looks after the mill is very knowledgeable about... 更多
I would say this was the pleasant surprise of our visit to Jasper and the area. This is definitely a worthwhile visit. The mill is recreated at great expense, clearly professionally done and sits back from the river where the original used to be, but it is very impressive. Most of all our very hospitable host surprised us with an... 更多
My wife and I walk the Jasper Riverwalk often and this re-creation of the original Eckert mill is near the walk and is quite impressive! It possesses a nice view of the Patoka river! Lastly, the gold and white cornmeal ground daily is tasty!
