For President's Day, my husband and I took advantage of a day off together to enjoy this great Indiana landmark. The day we were there, there were some period actors portraying the president, his wife, their butler, and a cook. All the actors did a great job sharing the life and history of the president. I honestly knew very little... 更多
No one else was there the day we arrived, so we had a private tour! Docent very knowledgeable. Top floor was closed for exhibit rotation- that was disappointing that we could not even peek in to see the room. Lots of original items.
They were great with our school group. The tour was highly educational and very historic. The staff were so nice and friendly.
Excellent - Ok I am a bit of a nerd and I like going to Presidential houses. This is the first one I have been to that was not owed and operated by the US Government, or a huge foundation. My daughter and I had a private tour with an excellent guide, with a wealth of knowledge. Loads of tidbits... 更多
Although most of the focus was on his life and living in Indianapolis, there was some good information on what he accomplished as President. Very informative and educational for adults and school-age learners. One gleamed what life was like before and after being President, and all life brought him, good and bad.
Very well maintained home. About 80% of the furnishings belonged to Benjamin Harrison, and the wallpaper had been restored to match what was in the home when Harrison lived in the house. This is the 10th presidential home we have visited and is one of our favorite. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly (had no idea that Harrison... 更多
This home is very impressive because nearly 80% of the furnishings are original. Our tour guide was great. She told us many interesting facts about the Harrison family and was able to answer most of the questions from our group. While the home has been refurbished, it is had not been drastically altered from when the President lived there. Well... 更多
We enjoy visiting presidential homes. This one is well preserved and claims to have 75% original Harrison Family items in its collection, which is just spectacular for a Presidential Home, especially as it passed out of the family for part of it's existence. We had the first tour of the day and it was like a personal tour as it... 更多
We were late but the curator was tremendously nice and he still gave us the tour guide. I loved the building, all the personal and historical mementos and the wonderful state of conservation. It is really educational, has lovely grounds, and connects you to a relatively unknown piece of the history of America and the midwest.
The burial site of Benjamin Harrison was worth the visit. It is large, includes his wife, has good information, is well kept too. Very interesting to spend some time viewing.
