The park is is to reach, as is the beach. Free parking-a plus. I'm happy it/s still free, so very family friendly and a Beautiful view. Now-very poor for families and senios! Only 2 porta potties and no water at all I could see. No concessions. So-nice for the price and bring your own stuff. Safe for families
We went out to the restaurant for their special on Saturday evening. The food was cold when we got it -- the waitress was rude and when we complained about our service she came back and commented on our complaint. Very poor service and cold food. Don't bother
This review does not speak to the lodge. I visited the South end of the park and the Nature Preserve. Of course being by the Lake is always nice, but the state of disrepair this place is in is just heartbreaking. The old structures remind you that at one time the State of Illinois took pride in this place. The... 更多
This review does not include the lodge. Beautiful setting along Lake Michigan, this state park facilities show the many years of deferred maintenance due to continuous budget cuts in Springfield. The beach houses (looks like something from the old Soviet Union era) have been shut for years and are an eyesore. The beach/camp store has also been closed and the... 更多
I went to the beach with my two teenage daughters. We entered at the north entrance of the park and put down our things on the beach at the dunes day use area. The view was beautiful. We walked up and down the beach collecting rocks and relaxed in the sun. We brought a lunch so we didn't need anything... 更多
The view of the lake is spectacular. We were at the Illinois Beach Resort for a wedding. The ceremony and reception were lovely. Our room was quite the opposite. We read reviews about some rooms having been renovated. We requested a renovated room. We got it...kind of. It appeared it had been started and then stopped. The front desk attendants... 更多
Nice beach, nice campground. Very good bike path along the lake. Close to restaurants, grocery store. Too bad the state won't update the bathhouses/beach houses. They are scary looking...locked and looking abandoned since the 1970's. Don't look north while your on the beach or swimming as you will see the old nuclear power plant also seemingly abandoned. Having said all... 更多
We have camped here twice, once in 2015 and once 2016. We love it! Clean, quiet (after hours) and a great location. Lake Michigan is within walking distance from the camp sites. This is one of our favorite locations.
Took a quick stop to the beach just to see what it was about. Me and my daughter sat on the rocks listening to the waves. Very beautiful and relaxing. I definately would go again if in the area.
