It's a great place to stroll through, but ONLY when the students are NOT there. When in session? The noise and commotion and sheer mass of wasted youth make it impossible to even think.
Definitely an attraction worthy of a walking tour. Park at street meters on Wright, Green or Armory Streets. Don't have change for the meters? No problem. You can pay over the internet using your phone. Info is on the meters. We started at Lincoln Hall. Some of buildings dating from the early 1900's have been maintained and upgraded while retaining... 更多
Want a crowd? go to the steps of the union. Frisbee? just ask to join in. Solitude? wander off to sit under a tree. Food? go into the union. Magnificent UofI buildings around (note the old-style building names), but even more you're in the middle of one of the greatest public universities in the world.
After traveling to a dozen different Universities within a year, one realizes that the University of Illinois Quad is one of the best assembly sites at any University. Flanked by historic buildings, an allee of trees snd grey squirrels, the quad is a community gathering space bar none. Visit, engage, enjoy.

The main UIUC quad is an awesome place during fall with all of its tree colors, in winter with all the snow it gets, it summer when all the students come together there to enjoy different activities and in spring when the trees start blooming and the weather becomes warmer. Always good to walk there.
The Quad is the hub of the campus. The walking tours of the campus use the Quad as the major venue to show off the campus. There are campus maps with building descriptions available.
I happen to spend time in Quad while waiting for my partner to finish his Practicum meeting. It's a place where students play, jog, skate, study or just lay down for a refreshing break. All thanks to University's free visitor wifi, I was able to take a corner and browse. It's pretty nice...
There are no hills or mountains on this campus, but there is the quad. Generations, including mine and my kids', have walked here from class to class, dozed here, made out here, played Frisbee here, and probably done some things here that were illegal at the time. It's a great way to see all the old buildings on campus, from... 更多
