We stumbled upon this attraction in a magazine and decided to check it out during a trip through central Illinois. Well worth the side trip ! The story behind the building of the 48 foot monument as well as the vista from the area are pretty cool.

This is a nice park to camp in. it is limited in hiking trails, but has a nice walk to chief blackhawk statue and steps down to river. beautiful in the fall.
This is a park with a lot of history. When you turn in it's a campground, drive to the back and you'll find the statue overlooking the river, it's an awesome view for sure.
Blackhawk cement statue is located within this beautiful park. Over looking the Rock River. There is a nice stairway then also down to the river for hiking. We enjoyed our stay at Lowden State Park. We stayed the weekend before Memorial Day so it wasn't extremely full. Depending on what site you get you can be very close to other campers but that seems to be commonplace and many of Illinois State Parks. We have camped here and had an awesome time in the past. I personally like the campsites on the east side of HW 33 better than the more open sites on the west side but all are nice. There is also the giant statue that is a tribute to the Native American's of the area that overlooks the Rock River.... 更多
