My wife and I stopped out to Casper Bluff for a hike. They have two different hiking trails with plenty of benches and a small pavilion. There is a portable bathroom on site if nature calls. There are some nice views of the river that would be better to see in the spring or fall once the leaves are gone.
Lovely views of the Mississippi and there are Native American Mounds. There are some good spots to grab a blanket, take a little hike and stop for a picnic. We have hiked as a family and brought the dogs along as well.
This is a nice place to view some wildflowers, views of the valley, old farm fields and some Native American History. There are a decent amount of trails if you are looking to get a good walk in. I would recommend bringing some shoes that you don't mind getting muddy if it has rained recently. There is history at this... 更多
We found this on trip advisor. Once we found the place we were surprised the kiosk in the front had self guided tour books and a mowed path to hike. We did not hike the entire area but we enjoyed our time there. Beautiful views and a very peaceful area.
After spending time in the busy downtown, it was really nice to take a short walk in the country. There are nice views of the Mississippi and Native American mounds, including a large thunderbird. The Thunderbird is large enough that you can only see it well by walking around it, but it is not tall - erosion has reduced it... 更多
Off the main roads for sure, but it's tough to beat these views. A good amount of hiking trails for those that want to explore. I totally recommend!
Drove here for the view. Long drive down dirt road. Just a parking lot at end of walking trails. If you are interested in Indian mounds and artifacts, this is a great place. If you want a great view, go down 84 to Mississippi Palisades state park. Much easier to get to, and outstanding views from lookout platforms.
Although we've been to Galena several times, this was the first time we visited this nature preserve. We stopped by on a rainy day and were not able to walk much, but would return on a future visit to hike the trails and enjoy the fine views. It's also an area with interesting Native American history.
Even though we have been going to Galena, never saw this beautiful place. I guess the reason being,we never had to take BlackJack Rd. This time because of our stay at Chestnut mountain Resort,we had to enter down BlackJack Rd. Now it is a very winding road with little roads to the side that can fool you,but if you're adventurous, believe me... 更多
