We were looking for the other end of the Galena trail off of Pilot Knob Road, but we never found it. So we rolled in here to see if we could find access to it. We didn't. But instead we found enjoyable trails, a great place to picnic and lots of mounds. We spent a couple of hours here in... 更多
We were in the area exploring places off the beaten path, and this was a very nice stop to enjoy some history of the area. Amazing to think that Indians were there so many years ago, as evidenced by the many mounds there. There are hiking trails that are kept groomed, and you won't be disappointed in the beauty you... 更多
We walked one of the trails, the one which looped around the bird mound. A few hills, beautiful wildflowers, scenic views and a massive amount of mosquitos...but we had bug spray with us! Saturday late morning and we did not even see any other people till we were leaving. There is a portable potty at the beginning and a stand... 更多
Multiple benefits of visiting Casper: grasp the significance of what this area once was, a place that Native Americans thrived and created burial mounds. You do need to make a tiny effort to get there, but it is easy to find about 10 minutes south of Galena. Enjoy arboreal beauty? If you can slow down and walk the area, it... 更多
This is a very well maintained park. There were guide books available with a map and information about the area. There are several mounds including a Thunderbird shaped one. A peaceful place to hike.
My husband and I drove out here on a Monday afternoon while on a visit to Galena. The view of the Mississippi is mostly obscured by trees, at least at the first lookout. He wasn't feeling well enough for a long hike, so we just did a short loop. It's very peaceful and beautiful. The signs and guidebook are well... 更多
My wife and I stopped out to Casper Bluff for a hike. They have two different hiking trails with plenty of benches and a small pavilion. There is a portable bathroom on site if nature calls. There are some nice views of the river that would be better to see in the spring or fall once the leaves are gone.
Lovely views of the Mississippi and there are Native American Mounds. There are some good spots to grab a blanket, take a little hike and stop for a picnic. We have hiked as a family and brought the dogs along as well.
This is a nice place to view some wildflowers, views of the valley, old farm fields and some Native American History. There are a decent amount of trails if you are looking to get a good walk in. I would recommend bringing some shoes that you don't mind getting muddy if it has rained recently. There is history at this... 更多
We found this on trip advisor. Once we found the place we were surprised the kiosk in the front had self guided tour books and a mowed path to hike. We did not hike the entire area but we enjoyed our time there. Beautiful views and a very peaceful area.
