It is a very family orientened attraction. You learn a little of Georgia's history and enjoy fun music and fireworks. It's free once you pay to enter the park. Come early and bring your blanket so you can get a good spot on the lawn. Dance if you like but most of all have fun. Great songs!
We arrived early and were directed to handicap parking which was convenient. Before the show, park sold "light sabers" for the kids. During the show they kept turning them on and off, which is very distracting to viewers. Nothing compares to trying to watch a light show and having someone shine a light in your face. As a long-time resident and supporter of Stone Mountain and the laser show I found myself extremely disappointed when I went this year. Instead of having pictures drawn by lasers the bulk of the show consisted of difficult to see pictures projected on the mountain face with some (minimal) laser work thrown in. Great show, celebrating the heritage of the South-East. Lots of people gathering together and having fun on the lawn well before the show. It's a must see, if you visit Atlanta for the first time or for the big holidays. Independence Day show with fireworks is especially spectacular.
Something you should see. Really, I have sen a lot of lasershows in my life but this is something else. First, it's free. You pay for the parkinglot but that is it. Next, it takes half an hour.
