We stumbled onto the Uncle Remus Museum by accident. We saw it as an attraction when we moved to Milledgeville, but hadn't made it there yet. Then we were in Eatonton looking for the post office, saw the museum, and decided to stop in. The presentation about Joel Chandler Harris was interesting and insightful. The interpreter did an excellent job... 更多
What charming little museum and a wealth of information from the $5 tour. Ms Georgia Smith gives a very lively talk about Joel Chandler Harris, life in Eatonton mid 1800s, and the characters or I should say critters and Uncle Remus. Really worth a visit , don't pass it by! You won't be disappointed and I am sure you will... 更多
Stopped here on the way to Atlanta, and I must say it was entertaining. The lady working was very knowledgeable about Mr. Harris's history and told a wonderful story about his life. Take the tour, there are alot of artifacts from way back when.
What a wonderful experience!! I was so delighted to discover this museum while passing through the area. The docent, Ms. Georgia, delighted those in attendance with a history of Joel Chandler Harris and his critters. As I listened to Ms. Georgia, I could envision setting by the firelight and listening to her as she captivated her audience with tales of... 更多
We stopped here for about 30 minutes. The museum is small but I liked that is was an authentic period cabin. There were books translated from all over the world and many editions of the stories. The lady who worked here was able to tell us much about the many artifacts on display.

Was an educational experience learning about Joel Chandler Harris. Disappointed that no photography was permitted in the museum cabin. Their reasoning "is that photos would be posted on line and nobody would ever come to vist". Not sure if I agree with their philosophy, but it is their belief. Would have been nice to share a few photos with the... 更多
