My mother and I visited Tarpon Springs over 40 years ago and it hasn't changed much. We took the Sponge Boat tour and it's something very different and fascinating. The shopping is great along the main drag by the docks and the sponges are amazing. Of course, several Greek restaurants to choose from in this fun and friendly town. A... 更多
Great price for a short boat trip, the adults and kids loved the old school sponge dive. The tour guide was great and told us the history. The sponge diver wearing the old dive suit was really neat to see how heavy it was and learn how long they stayed down. The sponge diver and crew was great with our... 更多
The folks who present this tour are locals with knowledge of the sponge industry in the area and some have been there nearly from the start. It is a friendly and informal atmosphere where you are up close and personal with the diver and he answers all your questions. It is not a fancy tour out very far but close... 更多
My wife and I took this 40 minute boat tour of the Tarpon Springs bay area. A diving exhibition demonstrating how sponges are harvested was the initial attraction. My wife and I found the Tarpon Springs history and sponge description provided by boat captain very informative and an unexpected treat. The diving exhibition was good. Overall we recommend this for... 更多
I can strongly recommend the St. Nicholas Boat Lines Sponge Diving Exhibition excursion. For only $10, I was able to take a 40-minute narrated tour on an open-air boat, during which we were able to watch the diver suit up (maybe only on the first trip of the day), learn how the “old fashioned” diving gear works, hear a presentation... 更多
I took this tour in between two other boat tours I had taken. If one had very limited time in Tarpon Springs, I would recommend this as this tour is about an hour or so. Very interesting history.
A short informative cruise. You got to see a sponge diver make a dive and return with a sponge that had been “salted” in the river. That part was enjoyable and the “captain” provided lively banter throughout the trip. The big turn off was at the end they walked around and handed everyone a small packet of post cards with... 更多
