This is an ugly building, despite having been designed by Edward Durrell Stone. The observation area on the top floor is desolate - an empty space, looking out on nothing much more than other government buildings. Entry is unwelcoming - awkward to find too. The public areas of the building were empty and quiet - admittedly, the legislature was not... 更多
If you are in the area worth a brief visit. Where Fla government happens. No tour. Observation deck is worth the elevator ride. Café is a nice stop for coffee, etc.
Cons: 1. Yes, it is a really modern Capitol building, and some people take issue with any departure from a Neoclassical style-- for reasons good and bad, that aren't worth debating here. More on this in the "Pro" section below 2. It is not the easiest place to self-tour. There is a guide, but a cartographer would have had an... 更多
The New Capitol is a very modern glass and steel structure with an outstanding front fountain. It is a must see for all of us that live in Florida. The best part for me was the view from the top out all four sides.
The best part of the New Capitol Building is the elevator to the observatory on the 23rd floor. Once there you can walk around inside of the observatory and check out most of the city.
This tall "new" building sits on beautifully landscaped grounds, with a spectacular dolphin fountain display near the entrance. There are things to see on several floors; the state seal in the lobby area is particularly impressive. Most impressive, however, is the top floor, which is completely enclosed, with huge windows allowing a clear view of Tallahassee. There are pictorial signs... 更多
A beautiful Landmark right through the middle of the busy downtown Tallahassee that you can easily use for finding your bearings around town. The architecture very classic and at night it is even more beautiful. Have not been inside, but think Tallahassee is a great town to visit.
The restored OLD Capitol building was beautiful....Our guide gave us the historical and exhibit overview. Many of the restored rooms contain the political history of Florida dating back to the State's formation.....The flower on the front lawn in the Spring are beautiful. The NEW Capitol is very modern....really liked the Old Capitol better. Well worth seeing and learning more of... 更多
We stopped here on the way through Tallahassee. We only had a few hours in town and wanted to see the state capitol building. It is open to visitors daily from 8a-5p. There is a quick security check and then you are free to explore the building. The house & Senate weren't in session, but you still could walk to... 更多
This building has 22 floors and visitors are certainly welcome to visit all 22 floors at no cost but, honestly, who would want to? Unless you want to speak to your local state representative about a particular grievance you might have about zoning or taxes, then this should be a fairly quick visit. We only visited the Lobby (Governor's office),... 更多
