You can access the lake from 2 or 3 counties it has lots of beautiful homes and properties and state parks all along this lake. You can walk, boat, camp and fish this lakey
We went here to scout out a place to celebrate my wife's birthday with the extended family. We did not go with this location, but we enjoyed our brief visit. The photo I took of Lake Talquin through the leaves is one of my favorites. I would like to come back with a boat sometime in the future.
Peaceful setting for walking/hiking, biking and fishing. If you have a boat, even better. Only 20 minutes out of the city, but you can see so much wildlife.
I live here and visit for hiking more than any of the extensive public lands in the area. The trails are excellent, especially the Fort Braden trails and those at the Bear Creek Educational Forest, which is close to Interstate-10. Wonderful trails, well kept. Lots of different vegetation to see, always somewhere new to explore. Some parts of trails are hilly but most aren't too challenging. Bring water! And bug spray. Keep an eye out for animal prints.
