Many people book local boat tours through the Center and we will too in the spring. But I just visited the exhibit space at the Center with a friend who volunteers with the Center. There were several exhibits in two rooms and there was another volunteer there who explained what we were seeing. There were fish, turtles, small rays, starfish,... 更多
The tour guide was incredibly informative and encouraged questions. We saw many pods of dolphins and local birds. Even on a warm day I would advise a jacket as it tends to be windy on the lagoon and somewhat cooler. Totally re on end this inexpensive tour.
Really nice people- both boat driver Scott & naturalist Traci. Really glad we went with this group instead of one of the "booze cruise" type trips. They were so knowledgeable. Saw tons of dolphins and lots of birds. They showed us lighting whelks and tulip snails. Great fun.
This is well worth the trip. You will get information concerning our vegetation, waterways and animals in the area. You will get hands on lessons. I so love this adventure and I am sure you will too. The Ranger are great.
MDC has a wonderful guided kayak tour that we have taken several times over the past few years. Went again this December. Guide was just fantastic, very knowledgeable about the area, history, birds, aquatic life, etc We took a different route than the last time (maybe because of the tide?) and were able to get to the open harbor where... 更多
This was an enjoyable visit by my wife and I. The volunteer spent a lot of time with us explaining the exhibits and where to see other interesting things on display there. We then talked with another volunteer who was feeding the large fish. They are working on enlarging the facility.
This is a great place to while away on a rainy day. Lots of info about local marine life. They also have a boat ride on inter coastal and can learn more, but it costs about $20. Admission is free.
Taking one of their sunset cruises on the pontoon boat several years ago, made my husband decide to retire that year and 3 years later, we moved to NSB! Becoming members of this fine organization has made us aware of many wonderful experiences offered by MDC: Florida Naturalists Classes, kayaking, camps for children, oyster bed restoration, nature walks, mollusk walks... 更多
Run by volunteers... well worth the visit if you want to learn about the aquatic life of the area. It was quiet when we went and we were shown round by one of the staff.
Two marvelous hours on the water with all the birds, fish and dolphins you could ask for - our guide Traci and boat Captain Scott were the best. He even knows how to talk to Osprey. They were knowledgeable, entertaining, informative and gave us a great "ride". We were on the 2 hour dolphin excursion and there is a charge... 更多
