Turtle Mound is a Florida landmark. It was included on Spanish navigational maps since it was one of the highest points on the east coast. We weren't expecting it to be as quaint as it was.a nice romantic walk up to the top.We thought that the mound would be separate but it was actually built up and then you get to the top where you could see ocean and inter coastal.
Growing up in Florida my grandfather often took me here to walk the trails of Turtle Mount. Now living in Pennsylvania I really miss these hidden gems. For a $5 entry fee, there's lots to see and do. There's a movie to watch at the visitor center. Two different walking trails and an older home from a bygone village to tour or just sit on the front porch overlooking the lagoon. short walk through mangrove on well kept boardwalk...wonderful views at the lookouts...you can pick up a short history on your phone...look for the sign with how to connect...very interesting
Love love love it! Johnny and I meant to go to NSB but turned the wrong way, so very glad we did. It was beautiful, I can truly recommend it
Driving through New Smyrna Beach tourist area to get to this place was worth it. Canaveral National Seashore is unspoiled beautiful place with excellent beaches.
