For only $2 a person, I wasn't expecting there to be a whole lot to this museum but I was pleasantly surprised. The museum itself is really only 2 rooms but is full of antique pieces with a lot of rich history. We were given a tour by a wonderful guide named Susan. She was very sweet and knowledgeable. This is a small local museum that is well worth two bucks and 20 to 30 minutes of your time. This is a quick way to learn a bit about town. When I walked into the jail cells it was hard to imagine being locked up inside for weeks or months at a time.
It was worth the visit. The charge is only $2.00 per person, $1.00 for children and it was an interesting display of old photographs and artefacts and of a short history of the Mount Dora settlement. It also has a jail. Very interesting and 30 minutes to get through it or so.
This museum gives you a good history lesson on Mount Dora. The person working there had a lot of information to share with us. It doesn't take long to walk through and it cost two dollars a person.
We loved visiting the historical society and can't believe we walked past it a million times in all our visits to Mount Dora! Our guide - I wish I could remember her name - was engaging, informative, and friendly. She provided us with so much interesting information about the facility, Mount Dora's history, unique tidbits of lore, etc. We are... 更多
Look back at Mt Dora's history was interesting, the curator for the day was very talkative and I think we learned more about her than the town. She was very informative on their local history. She was very good with the children who went thru while we were there and kept their interest, which was entertaining for us also.
We stumbled upon this quaint museum and were really glad we did! Our guide, Susan, was hysterical and knowledgeable. It was nice to see some of Mt. Dora's original artifacts and learn the back story of the famous Donnelly house.
This place is small but so is the entrance fee. It is full of fun historical artifacts and information. It also has a few interesting jail cells, old time dresses, record player, ice box, and so much more. Take the time to watch the slide show on the small screen.
