This is a very nice 2 1/2 mile stroll through this state park. Something new for a midwestern hillbilly! You can never learn enough about the ecosystem that makes the Florida Keys tick. There is so much more to do if you only open your eyes. This little park is no exception.
There are 1 1/2 mile and 3 mile walks. We took the shorter one but as pleasant as the walk was there was not much to see.
The trail is just a green tunnel through a former housing develpment. There is an old man made canal through the center. I would not call it scenic. I visited ion December 26 and there were still mosquitos. There's really nothing interesting about it. I say a total of one bird on the loop so there isn't any wildlife to... 更多
You park outside and pay via the honest route. You pay $2.50 per person and put it in an envelope and away you go with your walk. We were there early morning and bugs were way down. This was an old neighborhood that was purchased and all homes were demolished to allow the natural habitat that is indigenous to the... 更多
I parked at the front gate. Like most Florida parks, I had to place money in an envelope to enter the park. I arrived shortly after dawn, when I would have seen or heard the most birds and animals. The walk was uneventful, but pretty. This is a botanical garden, so they do not manage for wildlife. The paths were... 更多
stopped here on the way home to Orlando. Had never taken the Card Sound Rd. before and this was one of the first "stops" along the way. Lots of foliage and trees you'd expect in a 'hammock'. 50 yds into the walk I was swatting' and slapping and I had not put any deet on, so I dashed back to... 更多
I loved this place since the first time I stepped foot in there. I even considered and looked into getting married in one of the spots off the path where they have a long wall of coral and an opening amongst the trees. Considering how much walking everyone would have had to do to get there, AND the bugs for... 更多
You park at the entrance here and use the honesty box to pay. It is suggested that you donate$2.50 per person. There are leaflets about the park under the arch to your right as you enter. There is one set of pongy toilets about 100m up the avenue before you embark on one of the loop walks. There is a... 更多
This is an easy walk through a mostly wooded area. Many of the trees are labeled. I wish that it had taken us to the sea before turning back. Looks like they will close this down for some needed upgrading.
