Downtown Fort Pierce has locally owned shops, theater, farmers' markets, restaurants, libraries, office spaces, banks, museums and the Indian River. What more is there?
For a beach town I was surprised how dead the city was during the summer. We visited on of the beaches through public access and there was absolutely no one on the beach. If you want to vacate during vacation this would be the place to do it. The beaches are nice and the public park setting is very nice.

Walk the quaint streets of historic downtown Ft Pierce and you are stepping back into small town Florida. Still up and coming, the improvements that have been made are in keeping with Ft Pierce's history. Compared to other older downtown districts, I think Ft Pierce has done a great job. Just wish more businesses would take advantage of this area
