We enjoyed our walk through the refuge. An easy walk, not too long and pretty accessible. The animals were great and it was nice to see native species (minus the hippo), though a couple animals were pacing which seemed a tad concerning. Its a good time for people of all ages, and the entrance fee isn't too much.
looking for a place to take friends and family..Fun kids will really enjoy it..lots to see ,,its a really clean park ,everyone is friendly..doesnt cost alot either...
the price is right and you can take your time to enjoy both the wild animals and the ones in pens this is a must see when you are in the area
We loved the Echo Trail walk because it was easy walking so we could looking in the trees for birds, etc. and not worry about tripping. We saw several armadillos, woodpeckers and numerous sea birds. Loved the Spanish moss over the trail.
Old Florida displays wildlife so naturally & beautifully. Seeing the gators & birds helps me appreciate nature even more. I've learned to appreciate all that nature has to Offer.
If you just want to get out and enjoy seeing the local wildlife, or you need to let your kids stretch their legs - then GO to the Wildlife Refuge. They can learn and have a good time. This is a nice place to visit.

See Luo the hippo. He is a Florida resident by an act of the Governor. You can feed the Manatees. Plenty of snake for the boys to look at all behind glass of course. Take the book ride from hwy 19 to the park free praking.
We stopped in here and had a great 1 to 2 hour visit, it was perfect! Easy access, nice volunteers (especially the snake expert!) good snack stops along the way, and it was decorated for Christmas :)
We stopped by chance as we wanted to explore the area a little more. This caught our attention. What a great little place.
