The Battle of Cooch's Bridge was essentially a delaying action during the British Army's 1777 Philadelphia campaign. Washington sent approximately 900 men under Maxwell to harass the 8000 British and German troops marching from Glasgow toward Wilmington, Delaware. It was a small affair with approximately 30-50 casualties on both sides. The superior British Army eventually dispersed the Continental force. It... 更多

This site is the commemoration of an early and, in the opinion of others who know about his stuff than I do, somewhat insignificant Revolutionary War skirmish. In fact, the only one to occur in the State of Delaware. The actual "battle" location is right next to Old Baltimore Pike adjacent to private property which cannot be conveniently or safely... 更多

Site of first battle between British and Patriots after the British landed at Head of Elk to begin their Philadelphia campaign in 1777. Several displays along a side road off Old Baltimore Pike just west of DE 72 depict the battle. The nearby Pencader Heritage museum also has information about the battle. The mansion in the background of the picture... 更多

This should be on your "to do" list if you are an American history buff. This is jut one of hundreds of great sites in the heart of the American Revolution.

Just outside of Newark there are many historical landmarks. Cooch's Bridge is one of them that you should take time to visit while you are in the area. It goes back a long time in American history.

Careful with parking by the cannons on the side of the road, but there is parking and interpretive signs just down the street. Our little bit of history here in Delaware.

Just a very historical bridge and a place you can tell your friends is haunted. I've never seen any ghost but I love to creep my friends out every time we pass by the bridge.

This is an interesting site to visit albeit small and perhaps difficult finding a place to park. If you are a civil war buff you will like it, otherwise, I'd not bother.
