Last Friday was an unusual warm Spring-like day so we decided to take a drive. We ended up at Prime Hook and loved it. We drove through and stopped to explore a few areas. It was all so quite and peaceful. We really enjoyed ourselves. Hopefully our photos came out as beautiful as the scenery was.
The beach here is for the dogs, really. Dogs can go off leash year round and they love it. Spent a long weekend at Prime Hook Beach and the girls had a ball. The Refuge is vast, a kayak heaven and just beautiful in it's sereneness (at least in October).
There are a couple of nice scenic trails that are easy to walk. Like any wildlife refuge, it depends on the cooperation of the wildlife. I did see a couple of herons and common loons, not much else. This is worth the stop if passing by, it's not far off the highway.

Whether attending a talk on snowy owls or hiking out to see egrets along the boardwalk this area always exceeds our expectations. Joining with an early morning bird watching group introduced us to the incredible variety of birds residing here or just passing through

Few areas are accessible to humans (which is good), the views are picturesque and there's lots of waterfowl. It's not the kind of thing that takes more than an hour for the normal visitor, but I... 更多
My husband and I brought our bikes and rode the trails. We first stopped into the visitors center to get a map and some info. It was not crowded (weekday) so we were able to do the boardwalk trail. The dyke trail had a lookout and there were all kinds of unusual birds. We then rode to the Turkle Pond... 更多
