Make sure you make time for this piece of history in downtown Lewes off Pilottown Rd. I went just after sunset and the outline of the ship's mast in tiny white lights against a background of pink, purple and orange sky was awe inspiring and great for interesting photos!
Beautiful restored Lightship. Must visit if in Lewes. One of only 7 left. Take a guided tour to get the real feel and history of a bygone era.
The volunteers at the Lightship are quite enthusiastic and knowledgeable and they answer all questions posed to them. My husband and I enjoyed our tour and we learned so much about the Lightship.

Lewes has SO many great pieces of history, including the Overfalls lightship. And the docents are very knowledgeable, or visit the small gift shop. Well worth the time to visit (several hours). Take plenty of pictures.
Enjoyed learning about the history of the light ship. Our guide was very knowledgable and the tour took about 30 minutes. Could access most of the ship.
If you love history and boats this is a must see. The gentleman that give the tour are extremely knowledgeable of the history of the town. Good visit.
I went on the Overfalls with my daughter, wife, son in law and teenage (14) Grandaughter. The $5 er person donation (used for her upkeep and preservation) was money well spent for the guided tour. Talking to the volunteer guide makes everything on board come to life. One really begins to understand what it was like to be anchored offshore... 更多
