Love old mills. This is a hidden gem amongst all the big, state of the art bridges. Worth the trek. It sits under the bridges and has a pull out. Great photo ops.
This is the site of the original 1650 mill, but that burned down in the early 1800's and this is the replacement. So the "built 1650" sign is a bit deceptive. Not much to see. Wheel not working and inside is office space.
Out of the way but staffed by volunteers. Hours were VERY limited and the people at the tourist office did not know when there would be people. Otherwise a nice five minute stop when closed and 20 min when open. Grab your lunch and sit on the picnic table and enjoy the quiet.
This is good for a five minute visit if you are in the area but don't go out of your way for it. The grounds are open all the time, but the building has extremely limited hours, like a few hours on certain weekends. I couldn't find out on any website but it was posted on the door.
Had some time to kill and thought I would do a quick stop. It amazes me that society developed around this and for all practical purpose, time stands still gor this structure.
