You can tour the home, which used to be a fort, and see a few small exhibits. I was the only guest there and the guides almost provided too much info. But it was worth a short stop.
Beautiful late summer Sunday visit to the Whitfield house in Guilford CT. while this is not a large museum the people working there really take the time to describe the house and times. It is interesting to hear how the house was renovated back in the 1930's.
I visited during the week in early September. The staff could not have been more welcoming and happy to spend time explaining why the house is so special. Our 9 year old grandson asked if we could travel to this wonderful piece of history. The scavenger hunt clipboard was really motivating (old and young alike). The background available on the State of CT website was invaluable. So glad it was rescued for future generations to enjoy.
