This museum features in-depth exhibits involving the CT river, trade, ecosystem, fish, and lots more. Great place for tourists to visit. Plenty of parking, and knowledgeable exhibits.
We were there before they opened and had a wonderful walk on the docks with our granddaughters. Beautiful views of the Connecticut River. Museum was great!!
This is a very nice museum with information regarding the history of the CT river. Includes full size example of the 'Turtle' submarine, information regarding the English destroying 27 american ships near Essex, travels up the river. We even got to see a really great train display that was going on, very large.
This is a very well put together museum - lots of interesting history, particularly of a War of 1812 battle that is not well known. We also enjoyed the train exhibit on the top floor that is there certain times of the year.
My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting the museum the first week in October. The staff were most friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the many historical displays, the video on the history of the Connecticut River, and the numerous high quality ship models showing what transportation looked like on the river in the distant past. This isn't... 更多
Don't go here expecting to see a historic warehouse or boat yard. It is, however, a very well done story of the river and its place in history and culture, and you will probably find it fascinating. Follow the displays through the first and second floor, and you will be taken on a trip through time and place full of... 更多
We expected the museum to primarily focus on the mouth of the river, and local history. As it turned out, it covers from where it begins in northern NH, until it empties into the sea. Having lived in and visited many of the cities, towns and villages along the banks of the river we found it fascinating and spent a... 更多
This museum was beautiful, in the beautiful town of historic essex. The location really helps because you feel after walking around the town that the entire experience is worth the [atleast] 9 dollar museum admission, but the museum itself did not have too much to offer. It was a beautiful museum that had gorgeous canvas prints and displays to outline... 更多
At the end of Main Street in Essex, sits a great little museum that tells the history of the Connecticut River. Three floors of information brings new life to a river that I have lived close to for over 50 years. The color photos of the major towns along the river are amazing. The models of the steam powered ships... 更多
