On our way out of Walden we rode through this area. You are basically in a long valley with surrounding mountains. May even see a moose.
Sometimes we get so excited about the national parks that we forget about the neighboring state parks. In State Forest State Park you can see some of the same views that you can see in RMNP. No shade, no trees, no privacy. Blame the beetle kill but it's all open in both Ranger Lakes and Bockman. Nice views of the Rawahs if you look past all of the clear cut swatches.
