We were in Telluride mainly to view Fall color. That was a little bit disappointing because we were a bit late -- too many leaves had fallen. So, we decided to visit the museum, not expecting much. But it proved well designed and very interesting, including a long, interesting video with longtime residents talking about the drastic changes in the... 更多
Great visit, we had our kids with us 12 and 15 they both enjoyed it, the lady at the desk was knowledgeable and helpful she explained so many interesting things to us and gave my kids a quiz sheet to fill they loved that and it made them pay more attention and read everything! Definitely worth a visit!
A good review of the Telluride area, mining, gambling and red light area. Covers the medical, the freighters and the madams. Also a good explanation of the fight between Edison's DC electricity and Tesla's AC. Outside is an exhibit of mining equipment
A good historical museum with lots of interesting stories of early Telluride - from Madams to Mountain Men and every thing in-between. Who knew this was the first true AC electrified town in the USA!
Great little museum to get an understanding of Telluride's beginnings, the mining industry and what life was like in the early years. Lot's of fun facts posted around the museum. Great exhibits.
The museum is on two stories of the building that once served as a hospital. It has many pictures and lots of text telling about life in 19th and 20th century Telluride. There are several artifacts as well as some interactive exhibits to compliment the photos and printed information. One interesting display covers Westinghouse development of the power plant near... 更多
Gives a very comprehensive history of Telluride and surrounding area. From the mining that took place, the robbing of Butch Cassidy's first bank and the second hydro electric plant in the WORLD, the museum covers it all! :)
This museum offers a detailed look into Telluride's mining history, with everything from an outdoor exhibit demonstrating the mechanics of mining to an indoor exhibit of a typical miner's cabin. Do you know what the phrase "basket case" means? Well, the museum has an actual basket that was used to transport miners who were too injured to walk, or were... 更多
This museum is a gem. It's truly enjoyable & informative. I was so glad we went after we did the telluride outside jeep tour to Imogene pass. It put it all in perspective.
