If you're not familiar with driving on switchbacks and steep grades, this might seem a little overwhelming. Do follow the traffic signs and exercise caution especially in the evening. There are almost no guardrails at many of the switch backs and many drops at the turns. Black ice is also difficult to spot along this road. Along with danger comes... 更多
We love Ouray, CO and traveling the Million Dollar Hwy to Silverton and the views along the road. Fall is just gorgeous, the quaking Aspens are a sight to behold. There are a few hikes along the road and a few places to pull over to take in the beauty. I do not recommend the driver to do anything but... 更多
We had a great drive from Durango to Ouray. I am not sure about this drive if the weather hadn't been so good. Roads were nice and clear. Make sure you stop at the overlooks and see the waterfalls and views.
They do a good job clearing this road. I took it two ways, to Durango and back. The day in between travel it snowed furiously. The road was passable and there were lots of travelers. The views are outstanding and worth the challenging road with sheer drop offs and no guard rail in sections.
For the section between Silverton and Ouray, make sure your brakes and your cameras work. There is a reason that the speed limit is only 25 mph. There is no guardrail with sheer drop-offs if you wander off the side of the road. The driver must be attentive to the road. The views are beautiful, but if you are fearful... 更多
December 3, 2016. A little snow and ice on the roads but, well maintained with no loss of traction. One of the most beautiful and awe inspiring drives I have ever made. Not for the faint of heart. Unbelievable views and roads.
This is a very scenic road which is fine if you're not driving, but if you are make sure to not get distracted by the scenery or you'll soon be part of it. It winds through the beautiful mountains between Silverton and Durango. Every turn reveals something new. I particularly like the descent down into Silverton, gives you a really... 更多
At first we were not sure what to expect since we started out in Durango, but worth the drive. The best part, as best described by the history is between Silverton and Ouray. There are very few safe pull offs, but the first on is the best, it has a long waterfall and in the winter, the water is making... 更多
If you have a chance, do a little research up front. If you think the main road is terrific, the side roads can be even better. The only downside is that there are not enough pullovers to be able to stop and drink in the scenery.
