I absolutely love the Devil's backbone nature trail. I often visit by myself, with my family, friends and even for photoshoots. The old gypsum mine on the property makes an excellent background. Just don't clime on it or the rangers will stop you and can write you a ticket. The mine is off limits.
Great trail running in Loveland! A lot of people warned us of the Rattlesnakes, but we never encountered any. Great views and backdrop for your trail run!
This is a great way to get your hiking legs under you. There are three different loops each elevating your level of input as well as level of challenge. Opt out after an hour or walk to Fort Collins. The Rangers are friendly and helpful and always seem to raise the roof on giving the public more and more
We only hiked out to the 'Keyhole' but the trail continued on for as far as I could see. The trail is open with no shade so bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. This is an excellent trail system that connects with other trails in Fort Collins. It has a nice restroom and ample parking. I hear a lot of talk about Rattlesnakes, but I have been hiking the trail for years now and have never seen one. But we tend to go on days when the trail is being used a lot... 更多
Beautiful vistas and a great eco system. Originally a strip mine the mining site has been mostly removed and what's left doesn't distract.
